How buying a claim works

Get your licence. BC: a Free Miner Certificate, applied for through the province. Ontario: a Prospector's Licence, issued after the Prospector's Awareness Program.

Check the title yourself. Look up the title number on Mineral Titles Online (MTO), BC's online claims system: status, good-to date and cell outline. In Ontario, use MLAS.

Agree on terms. Email the title number to prospectcanada.com@gmail.com. Price and terms are on each listing.

Transfer the title. The transfer is registered in MTO or MLAS. A title that is still an application transfers once it is issued.

Permits before work. Mechanical work needs permits, such as a Notice of Work under the BC Mines Act, and First Nations consultation.
Mineral rights only. Surface rights are not included with any claim.
