This active two-cell Ontario mining claim holds the recorded location of the Coppersand Lake / Hardie copper-silver prospect (Ontario Mineral Deposit Inventory MDI41P01NE00007). In July 2009 the Ontario Geological Survey visited the prospect, fixed its position by GPS, and sampled a vein that returned 1.4% copper. That GPS point lies inside this claim.
Why it matters
The government's own checked location for the prospect sits on this claim, so the buyer holds the mining rights at the recorded prospect point. Historic drilling by Gunnex (1970) and others tested the northernmost showing right next door, on the neighbouring claims to the east, and intersected copper-silver mineralization. This claim covers the prospect point and the fresh ground immediately west of that drilling. The obvious first step is to map and sample the vein at the 2009 point and trace it west onto the claim.
Historic work in the area (public records, pre-NI 43-101)
• Pitting and trenching around 1919; small ore shipments reportedly made before 1932.
• Three main showings. A grab from the central showing assayed 9.22% Cu. The best Gunnex drill result was 2.15% Cu, 1.14 oz/t Ag and 0.14 oz/t Au over 1 ft (hole G-3, on the neighbouring ground).
• 1975 sampling reported 7.95% Cu and 2.1 oz/t Ag over 20 ft, 4.73% Cu and 1.20 oz/t Ag over 30 ft, and a 3 ft chip at 19.9% Cu (locations not given in the reports).
• 1973 flotation tests made copper concentrates of 25–31% Cu.
• The Ontario Geological Survey describes the drilled prospect as limited, flat lying and narrow.
None of this is a current resource. The 31 historic drill holes are on the neighbouring claims right next door, so this claim sits beside drill-tested ground.
