Southwest face of McGillivray Ridge at Athabasca Pass, near the British Columbia–Alberta border, in the northern headwaters of Pacific Creek, a tributary of the Wood River.
Golden Mining Division, NTS 083D/08, BCGS 083D040.
About 55 km south-southwest of Jasper, Alberta, and about 90 km southeast of Valemount, BC, in a straight line.

There is no road. Access is by helicopter from Valemount, or on foot or horseback by the Athabasca Pass trail.
The showings are at about 2,090 to 2,165 m elevation. The practical field season is July to early October.
Geological Features
The claim covers the Punch Bowl gold occurrence, also known as Punch and McGillivray Ridge (MINFILE 083D 038).
Deposit Type and Host Rocks
The deposit type is gold-quartz veins (Au-quartz veins, I01), Foreland Belt, Ancestral North America (MINFILE 083D 038).
The host rocks are Lower Cambrian Gog Group strata, divided here into the McNaughton, Mural and Mahto formations (MINFILE 083D 038).
The gold-bearing quartz veins are found only in the McNaughton Formation, the lowest of the three (MINFILE 083D 038).
Veins
The main veins run parallel to bedding, cutting pelite and quartzite (MINFILE 083D 038).
The bedding-parallel veins range from a few centimetres thick and about 1 m long up to 70 to 100 cm wide and 50 m long (MINFILE 083D 038).
Besides quartz, the vein fill holds unevenly spread pyrite, native gold, galena, sphalerite, carbonate, white mica and potassium feldspar (MINFILE 083D 038).
Two generations of vein filling are recognised, and most of the gold came in with the second, later stage (MINFILE 083D 038).
